13th Annual Academy Awards Film Series--"One Battle After Another"
When their enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own.
One Battle After Another will be the 7th and final film in the 13th Annual Academy Awards Film Series at the Englewood Library on Thursday, May 28, at 2 p.m. in the library’s Room 2. The program is free and open to the public. Because space is limited, those who register will have priority. Registration can be found at bccls.libcal.com/event/16595584. The film series will end on Thursday, May 28 at 2 p.m.
The Paul Thomas Anderson-directed (and co-written) film stars Leonard DiCaprio as Bob, a washed-up revolutionary who lives in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off-grid with his spirited and self-reliant daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti in her film debut). When his evil nemesis (Sean Penn) resurfaces and Willa goes missing, the former radical scrambles to find her as both father and daughter battle the consequences of the past. One Battle After Another also stars Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall and Tony Goldwyn.
The film received 13 Academy Award nominations, winning six, including Best Picture, Best Director (Anderson), Best Supporting Actor (Penn), Best Editing (Andy Jurgensen) and the first-ever Best Casting (Cassandra Kulukundis). One Battle After Another is rated R, and the running time is 161 minutes.
