This event will commemorate Fred Bass's enduring contributions to New York’s cultural and literary life. As we approach the Strand’s 100th anniversary in 2027, this street naming is a meaningful moment for our bookstore and for the city we are proud to call home.

We would be honored if you could attend and help us recognize a legacy rooted in independent bookselling, free expression, and the intellectual life of New York City. We anticipate a brief program with remarks from local officials, literary figures, and our family.

We will be gathering on the corner of 12th street and Broadway, in front of Strand Bookstore, for the unveiling.
