Maker Nexus is a 28K sqft non-profit maker space with all the tools and equipment you can imagine to make anything you can imagine!  We offer over 800 hands-on tool and equipment training classes, youth camps, and workshops open to the public.  We have metal and glass working, woodshop, electronics, 3 d printing, laser cutting, jewelry studio, garment printing, textile lab, leather working, printing, and so much more! Make your Holiday Season cheery and bright with these creative projects at Silicon Valley's Premier Makerspace!

Gnome, sweet Gnome! These steadfast guardians will spruce up your home and keep it cheerful in any season. In this beginner-friendly hands-on class, you'll practice spindle woodturning while you create your very own adorable wooden gnome to take home or give as a gift. You'll learn:<ul><li>How to prepare a wooden blank for turning</li><li>How to develop a design for your gnome and translate it to the lathe</li><li>How to shape your gnome with different types of lathe tools</li><li>How to sand and finish your gnome</li></ul>Prerequisites<a href="https://app.amilia.com/store/en/makernexus/api/Activity/Search?textCriteria=introduction%20lathe" title="https://app.amilia.com/store/en/makernexus/api/Activity/Search?textCriteria=introduction%20lathe" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Introduction to Lathe</a> is suggested, or prior experience spindle turning on a wood lathe, but neither are required.Dress Code<ul><li>Full length pants and closed-toed shoes</li><li>Hair ties for longer hair</li><li>No dangling jewelry or loose clothing</li></ul>What to Bring<ul><li>We recommend you bring your own safety glasses and hearing protection if possible.
