Growing Justice Presents: Farm Open House
Support the work of our Growing Justice interns and enjoy visiting the farm!
Stop by the farm to learn and discover with our Growing Justice interns! Each intern has created a workshop, tour, or activity for all ages to learn about agriculture, justice, and sustainability. Support their work and enjoy visiting the farm!
Some of the projects include:
Native New York City:
Come join us for an immersive, hands on experience! All ages are welcome to participate in our colorful matching game, where visitors will match crops and indigenous nations to their respective New York City borough. Learn about the beautiful roots of our city!
Seasonality:
Interested in learning about the crops we grow at the QBG farm? We are opening our doors to educate families on food seasonality and how it impacts grocery prices. We will be role-playing as food distributors around the world to get a small glimpse on the challenging process of getting food to your plate!
How to Seed Save:
Come join us for a short hands-on activity on the importance of successfully seed saving. This is an educational experience where participants will plant their own seeds to take home. Come learn something new about saving and planting seeds!
Compost and Soil Health:
Come learn about different types of soil, how compost breaks down over time, and how farming methods affect the environment! Visitors can explore and compare soil, compost, and farming systems to understand why healthy soil is important for plant growth.
