Join Chicago for Chicagoans for a walking tour of Hegewisch, covering neighborhood history, architecture, and current events.

Chicago for Chicagoans is excited to announce the return of our 2.5 hour walk through the far southside neighborhood of Hegewisch! Led by resident , this walk will take you through some wonderful hidden gems found on the expansive community's southeastern side.
Beginning at the , you'll stroll past countless historic homes, churches, and time-capsule mom & pop businesses, learn about early plans to create the "ideal workingman's community," and discover the neighborhood's connection to railroads, steel mills, airports, operas, and the infamous Leopold & Loeb murder.
The afternoon will end with a celebratory drink at the , a classic Chicago dive bar with vintage charm. Alternatively, curious tour-takers may enjoy strolling a few blocks east of our tour route to see the edge of Wolf Lake (located at the very edge of city and state limits) to observe its surprising biodiversity!
