La Cocina de Loisaida - Season 2

We are so excited to kick off Season 2 of La Cocina de Loisaida!  La Cocina de Loisaida is a monthly Cooking Experience which takes place at the Essex Market.  Each month we'll explore traditional Puerto Rican Recipes and discuss Flavor, Culture & Love.

La Cocina de Loisaida is a monthly in-person cooking class series presented by The Loisaida Center and Essex Market, where longtime Lower East Sider and home chef Maria Bido shares authentic Puerto Rican recipes and cooking techniques.Each month we’ll explore a new batch of family favorites, all based in Puerto Rican flavors and using ingredients from Essex Market.On Saturday October 8th, we&#x27;re going Vegan. We&#x27;ll show you have to make the traditional Puerto Rican dishes that you love so much in a Vegan version. These dishes will have all the flavors that you love in a healthy plant based style. Our menu includes:Tostones Rellenos - Stuffed Plantain Cups Yaca Guisado – Stewed JackfruitArroz Integral con Habichuelas Rosadas – Brown Rice with Pink Beans Dulce de Coco – Coconut CandiesThe class will be approximately 1.5 hours long and include time to savor the dishes you prepare together as a group. La Cocina de Loisaida takes place in the Essex Kitchen -- Essex Market&#x27;s demonstration and teaching kitchen located on the market&#x27;s mezzanine level.This series is presented in partnership with The Loisaida Center with the collective mission to preserve and pass down culinary heritage from the Lower East Side community. We invite all ages and abilities to join us for these unique, fun and celebratory cooking classes at Essex Market.
