Voices of Galway Farmers: A Love Story with Jess Murphy, Kai
Immersive storytelling and food experience with Irish farmers, Jess Murphy, and Food Tank during Galway Film Fleadh. By invitation only.
During the past year, Voices of Farmers: A Love Story has emerged as one of Food Tank’s most acclaimed and emotionally powerful live experiences, with sold-out performances and standing ovations at venues and festivals including Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, Scene + Heard Festival at Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin, the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia, and Climate Week NYC at WNYC–NPR’s The Greene Space. Combining live farmer storytelling with music, film, and immersive culinary experiences tied directly to the farms and landscapes being described onstage, the performances have been described by audiences as intimate, emotional, and unlike anything else happening in food, film, or theatre today.
Now, during the Galway Film Fleadh, the project comes to Galway for what promises to be one of its most intimate and special iterations yet. Hosted in The Soul Garden at Massimo in collaboration with Michelin Green Star restaurant Kai Restaurant and award-winning chef and restaurateur Jess Murphy, the afternoon will feature live storytelling from the stars of the documentary short Irish Farmers: A Love Story — Ailbhe Gerrard, Sophie Bell, and Carina Roseingrave — alongside extraordinary female farmers and food producers from Galway including Theresa Heneghan and Siobhan Nà Ghairbhith.
The event arrives as Irish Farmers: A Love Story, a documentary short film, is currently under consideration for selection into the Galway Film Fleadh itself, creating a unique convergence of live storytelling, cinema, food, and farming culture within one of Ireland’s most beloved artistic communities.
