The Winthrop Balloon Festival is a unique event, as balloonists from across the Northwest gather for a weekend to fly together. It is similar to the Monarch Butterflies. When the balloon pilots choose to come, we let the community around the Northwest know. Since balloons will be coming to town to fly, the town of Winthrop hosts people who would like to see them fly. This is the busiest weekend in Winthrop all year.
