Yes—Seattle Ballooning offers the only commercial hot air balloon rides during the Prosser Balloon Festival weekend. While we do not launch from the official festival field, our private launch site is just west of it. These Prosser balloon festival weekend rides sell out very quickly.

The festival does not allow any commercial operations to launch from the official field. We are not affiliated with the festival directly, but we launch from a nearby private field and fly alongside the festival balloons—giving you the same breathtaking experience from the sky.

Flights take place the same weekend as the 2025 Prosser Balloon Festival—September 26, 27, and 28. We fly at sunrise each day, weather permitting. This is the only chance to fly in a balloon during the festival weekend—spots sell out fast!

The private festival balloons launch from the Prosser Airport. Seattle Ballooning launches just 1 mile west of the festival grounds. Our launch site gives us great wind access to join the balloons in flight and often lets us fly right over the Yakima River.

Is there an age or health requirement to fly in a hot air balloon at the Prosser Balloon Festival?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Kids must be 4 years or older and able to stand for the full flight. Passengers must climb in and out of the basket unassisted. For safety, we can’t fly anyone who is pregnant or has serious mobility or balance issues.

What should I wear for a hot air balloon ride during the Prosser Hot Air Balloon Festival?

Dress in layers and wear closed-toe shoes. Mornings can be chilly, but it warms up quickly after launch. Avoid dresses, sandals, and anything loose. Hot air balloon rides are outdoors and comfort and safety come first! It will not get colder at altitude.

Festival flights are non-refundable, but if weather cancels your ride, you’ll receive a credit valid at any of our locations, including Seattle, Walla Walla, or other balloon festivals. Credits never expire.
